Coming of Age

Coming of Age

A Poem by Pete
"

As every season seems best to us in its turn, so the coming in of spring is like the creation of Cosmos out of Chaos and the realization of the Golden Age. - Thoreau

Round and round like a hamster on a wheel.
Oblivious to the cage that lies and denies.
Twirling joy only the blessed could feel.
From Doubting Thomas to legs that kneel.
A prodigal son with a ring 'pon his finger.
Love runs deeply and doesn't linger.
Multiplying a lowly penny into a hundred gazillion.
Thank eternal Heaven for inviting me to faith's cotillion ...

Pete
"How earthy old people become -- moldy as the grave! Their wisdom smacks of the earth. There is no foretaste of immortality in it. They remind me of earthworms and mole crickets." - Thoreau

Hamster wheel or cage, I believe the most grateful and wise among us (often the oldest) cherish life's breath and simple joys like dancing, music and touching the one they love. As we age, we find beauty in the simple we overlooked or ignored in our younger years. That's what I read here, Pete.

I always admire how much effort you give in every presentation. The images, quotes and poetry are so well synchronized, as if you and Thoreau collaborated on the project. Exceptional work, sir.
