Ardor

A Poem by Pete
"

The fire is the main comfort of the camp, whether in summer or winter, and is about as ample at one season as at another. It is as well for cheerfulness as for warmth and dryness. - Thoreau

It's nippy.
Come sit next to me beside the fire.
It's frigid.
Toss another log on your fervor.
It's gelid.
Kindle your soul next to mine.
It's cold.
Cover me with your heart's shawl.
We'll see what tonight brings.
At least until the robin sings ...

“If I put my head deliberately into the fire, there is no appeal to fire or to the maker of fire, and I have only myself to blame.” - Thoreau
