Gumption

Gumption

A Poem by Pete

The strongest wind cannot stagger a Spirit; it is a Spirit’s breath. A just man’s purpose cannot be split on any Grampus or material rock, but itself will split rocks till it succeeds. - Thoreau

Taking me forcibly by the arm.
Bending my shaky knees.
Doing whatever it pleases.
Despite my fruitless sneezes.
Today's blue, blustery wind tried to usher me down the street.
Swirling me about in a doubting alley of chilling, callous confusion.
Cornering me nowhere.
Trying to make me go its unknown way.
Instigating a cold January indecision.
Nowhere can be everywhere.
In whatever you do.
At least it had the gumption to influence with cold, calculated precision.
Who the Sam Hill are you ...

Beccy.
