Birds of A Feather

Birds of A Feather

A Poem by Pete

As I love nature, as I love singing birds...I love thee, my friend. - Thoreau

Woke this morning to a bitter cold blast.
Confronting my bones today but remnant of days past.
Sitting in my chair beside last night's slumber bed.
Sad thoughts invading my head.
I guess 'tis true that birds of a feather.
Congregate together.
Praying in all kinds of weather.

Spied a trifecta of  uncommon birds on my window sill.
Preening and strutting in November sun with skill.
Singing hymns to carry a thrill.
Think I might but I know I will.
Wrap myself in this unexpected but welcomed visit from God ...
... to escape life's chill ...

Pete
"The birds I heard today, which, fortunately, did not come within the scope of my science, sang as freshly as if it had been the first morning of creation." - Thoreau
