Not So Faint Discord

A Poem by Pete
"

Love must be as much a light as it is a flame. - Thoreau

"
Image result for man and woman walking away from each other

Passion diverged.
The friction of life wore down love.
Raising the viscosity of their hearts.
Came a day of reckoning eminence.
Tainting aged innocence with a grudge.
Hardening free-flowing desire with selfish, irreconcilable sludge.
You be the judge ...

While I have no experience in relationships -- why they last, why they don't -- your poem seems to nail the things that seem obvious to me, as I watch others go thru a somewhat predictable pattern of self-destructing their relationships with selfish or bad behavior. I love line 2 & also I love the word "viscosity" in the next line. These two lines, taken together are brilliantly crafted! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I don't think innocence has much of a chance to age these days.
