Truce

Truce

Only the defeated and deserters go to war. -Thoreau

Pardon my French.
My Mandarin, Spanish and Arabic too.
F-bombs drop in a ballistic blitzkreig.
Emotion and reason overrun.
The horror.
The horror.
As spirit is penetrated to the very core of divine equilibrium.

What's happened?
The fight is gone from me.
Hell must be trying to even the score.
All I can do is plant my white flag ...
... and pray there isn't more ...

I read and see a long battle with oneself, Pete... a seemingly endless fight that has put a man on his knees, compelled him to surrender and take a chance on the mercy of the unknown. This is perhaps depression, but a darkness man still wants to escape. Maybe this is a man's fall from faith, and his struggle with whatever higher power he believes has influence. Regardless, this poem conveys despair but also hope in that white flag (and the light on the horizon in the pic). Well done, sir.
