Shooting Up

Shooting Up

A Poem by Pete
"

Music is perpetual, and only the hearing is intermittent. - Thoreau

"

As right as last night's rain.
Melody infusing my brain.
Bright like sun's light.
Beat making everything alright.
Breathing rhythm.
Key to spirit's algorithm.
No issues.
Chorus infusing cells of my tissues.
Soul getting deep and lyrical.
Another existential miracle.
Sad to be life's flunkie.
Glad to be a ...
... music junkie ...

Right there with you on this one. Music has always been a part of my life. Took piano music from six to seventeen years old. Taught my daughter piano too. I can't write unless I have music in my ears. I mow the lawn with a headset on. Sometimes, I cook to music, go to sleep with music, wake up to music. Even had a job at a bank, third shift, where I sat in front of a computer with a headset on listening to my favorite playlist. Music draws me into that place my mind longs to be----anywhere and everywhere.

I love your poem & I love Rhayne's share that it evoked. I used to have music on all the time, but now I live in wilderness where music comes in the form of blessed quiet, so I do music, but also just listening to nature's music. What I love most about your msg . . . people write about music all the time & you have not used one word or one thought that feels like it's already been written before. This is highly original thinking, as well as writing! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I can so relate to the musicality of this, Pete. I lived in a house where music was just as prevalent as the television. Then, in the eighties, I got my dream job - working at a record store!

"Glad to be a music junkie", indeed!
