Charge of the Right Brigade

Charge of the Right Brigade

A Poem by Pete
"

The greatest battles of life are fought out daily in the silent chambers of the soul. - David O. McKay

Image result for battle trench

Clutching tight the rosary beads of a promised tomorrow.
Amidst the unexpected surprise of pain and sorrow.
Faith advances and retreats like the sea.
Hopes explode in the sky.
Truth confesses from a whiskey bottle.
Blood no longer red.
Hunkered down in battle line trenches.
Exacting its human toll.
Spirit's bugle call decides.
Begging and pleading why.
Before today charges off to die ...

"It is not enough that our life is an easy one. We must live on the stretch, retiring to our rest like soldiers on the eve of a battle, looking forward to the strenuous sortie of the morrow." - Thoreau
