Turning Point

Turning Point

A Poem by Pete
"

I came into this world, not chiefly to make this a good place to live in, but to live in it, be it good or bad. - Thoreau

It is only in the presence of light that a shadows is cast.
Manifest in the present but revealing the past.
Pushed aside.
Still willing to abide.
Goodness floats and emptiness sinks.
No matter what your soul thinks.
Storming the castle walls.
Until darkness falls.
You must breathe the depths of despair before you can rise.
Grow wings before your spirit flies.
A book must be born before an epilogue dies.
You must feel before your heart cries.

Know this, the truth, before you shun.
It's not over 'till it's done.
A sin fidgets but that which is good sits up straight and holds fast.
As sure as eternity lasts.
Those in darkness want empathy.
A free pass preferably.
But the world is cold.
As sure as the hills are old.
When you're nailed to life's rotted wood, you're still alive.
Because the truth is never compromised or deprived.
A praying knee still bends at an arthritic joint.
That which is crooked can only be straightened at a ...
.. turning point ...

You are waxing philosophical like Thoreau my dear friend. We must taste bitterness to know what is sweet. Opposites reflect the stark reality of things, the turning points and turning aside. You are holding fast to all ideals Pete.
