Remorse

Remorse

A Poem by Pete
"

Never look back unless you are planning to go that way. - Thoreau

"
Image result for fate destiny

Inevitability.
Showing neither civility.
Nor sensibility.
All roads lead there.
No matter.
Regardless.

Fate beckoning.
Destiny pulling like a magnetic field.
Against my protective shield.
My desires precluded.
My wants excluded.
There was no way to stop it.
Like a runaway horse.
So I tried to reverse course.
And still ended up second-guessing with ...
... remorse ...

"Make the most of your regrets; never smother your sorrow, but tend and cherish it till it comes to have a separate and integral interest. To regret deeply is to live afresh." - Thoreau

Pete, as a fellow Thoreau admirer, I love the quotes. The poem (with the well-paired photo) speaks like a man of much life experience, perhaps a bit jaded from seeing too much of life's ugliness. I see myself in this work, always pulling against what my instincts tell me to do... because it feels better to go the other direction... until I realize the consequences. Good Y/T video, too. Powerful assembly of poetry, literature and music.
