May The Force Not Kill You

May The Force Not Kill You

Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; truth isn't. - Mark Twain

Hyenas with hernias writing hieroglyphics.
Drinking tea and Kool-Aid made in China at the political party.
Pledging allegiance to democratic doughnuts and decaffeinated debates.
In the House of Pretentiousness.
Passing laws that mandate how to screw in light bulbs.
Tossed on the enterprising scrapheap of humanity.
Screaming a glowing, interplanetary profanity.
Losing sensibilities grip on an ancient creed.
A universal silence that spins upon worn knees.
Treading a path that is abominable.
Living a life that is terminal.
Locked in our cars on a hot day.
Driving stuck in traffic to earn more disposable pay.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Not for a reason but just because.
When logic was.

Be sure to play nice.
Phasers are locked and loaded.
Truth and morals eroded.
Don't worry.
We've got our smart phones.
And peace-keeping, spying drones.
Not to mention trustworthy DNA clones.
What would you like to be?
State your case and enter a perverted plea.
Would you like to be invisible?
Beamable and indivisible?
There's a program for that.
A commercial to lose unwanted fat.
Another for donations to save a cat.

Beam me up Scotty.
Before I get too old and age-spotty.
We can gun the engine at warp speed as we cruise past the old church.
Abandoning faith's fickle search.
We'll stop in Washington on the way to buy a glock.
And listen to the progress of meaningless gridlock.
Make sure you park between the lines.
And stop at Legoland, hexagonal, traffic signs.
But first, let's pull into the drive-thru for a presidential Whopper.
For a taste of Americana that's flame-broiled and proper.
Remembering to, 'Live long and prosper.'
The automatic doors always open when they see you coming.
When they hear the thunder drumming and the missiles strumming.
When you vote, be sure to check 'none of the above'.
As push comes to shove.
Wherever you go and whatever you do ...
... may the force not kill you ...
