Seaside Airport

Seaside Airport

A Poem by Pete
"

My life is like a stroll upon the beach. - Thoreau

The tide was on it's way out.
The wet sand it left behind was just right.
Not too hard.
Not too soft.
Perfect for a transitional tarmac.
Truth's tower signaled an "All clear."
Liberation was summoning and sanity was near.

I had a free ticket to keep the monkeys off my back.
And  stop the demons from whispering their lies into my ears.
So I got off of my beach chair and took off.
Leaving my baggage behind.
Sidestepping an occasional pebble or shell.
Seagulls stood and watched as I made my way past.
Some had just landed.
Others were readying for takeoff.
Most were relaxing, on their journeys, at the snack bar.
Screeching and chattering gossip amongst themselves.

"What's he doing?"
"Where's he from?"
"Where's he going?"
"I've never seen him before."
I smiled and nodded as I sprinted by.
On my way to faith's resort.
"Don't mind me, just passing through." was my retort.
As I traversed their  ...
... seaside airport ...

Author's Note

Pete
"The sea-shore is a sort of neutral ground, a most advantageous point from which to contemplate this world. It is even a trivial place. The waves forever rolling to the land are too far-traveled and untamable to be familiar. Creeping along the endless beach amid the sun-squall and the foam, it occurs to us that we, too, are the product of sea-slime." - Thoreau

I so like the analogy of sea-side airport. Figuratively speaking, it gives us wings to fly with our imagination as the fuel. It prods us to contemplate life and its waves. It touches our soft feet with the tides. Leave all that baggage behind as you marvelously state. Take the flight of freedom. Wash away the sorrow. I can go on and on...
