at my last wedding, "In your Eyes" was the second song played to get everyone onto the floor...love that song and the movie it is from....but i also thought of another lyric from reading your poem...
from Dylan----" I wish that for just one time, you could stand inside my shoes---and for just that one moment i could be you...yes, i wish that for just one time you could stand inside my shoes, you'd know what a drag it is to see you"----
this is such a deep introspective write...but also screams for empathy as well.

thank you jacob. it is an amazing song that i could listen to over and over forever. the music and lyrics are so beautiful - hypnotic and entrancing to me. it is deep like those eyes - mirrors of the soul. i went in a different direction than the song with my write as it touched me in a different way at the time i penned it ... :)

Take a trip inwards and you can certainly find out much about yourself. That part of you which is not openly available to others. People can see you through their eyes, but they can't see you through your own. I liked where you went with this one Pete.

I thought of one thing when I read your title. It was the song by Peter Gabriel, which I've always felt was the epiphany of love. It certainly gave depth and contrast to your lines...

thanks kelly. you know i love my music, am inspired by it and this song is a standout and all-time top favorite of mine. it is so beautiful and deeply touching to me and inspired this although i went in a slightly different direction with it. how cool that you immediately thought of the song just from the title! ... :)

It's one of the best songs to come out of the nineties. "I see the doorway to a thousand churches, in your eyes, the resolution of all the fruitless searches." I love the lyrics and Peter's voice. Such a power ballad!
