'Shh', You'll Wake Them

'Shh', You'll Wake Them

A Poem by Pete
"

They will wait, well disposed, for others to remedy evil, that they may no longer have have it to regret. - Thoreau

"
Image result for evil people

Footprints on my head.
Knives in my back.
Hands in my pockets.
Lies in my ears.
Empty promises upon my soul.
I do not wish to condemn.
I'd forgive them all but ...
... 'Shh', you'll wake them ...

There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root. - Thoreau

The dark tones are synonymous with some of my favourites of yours. Although you write many beautiful poems that are far lighter, it's nice to have a poem that shows an ugly truth, rather than a wishful lie. As always, you are an excellent writer. Thanks for sharing.
