The Last Say

The Last Say

Remember that the smallest seed of faith is of more worth than the largest fruit of happiness. - Thoreau

Would you rather be loved or feared?
Is it better to be shunned in righteousness or in sin revered?
Should I keep doing right when the world does me wrong?
Please tell me before too long.
So my spirit can be strong.

My life's been stripped to the core.
There's nothing left anymore.
Each morning I put on my mask.
I try to play the part.
It ends up being yet another false start.
Is my faith in vain?
Fruitlessly taking me against the grain?
Causing me unbearable pain.

These are the things I wrestle with everyday.
Should I continue driving against the flow down a one way?
I never think twice.
Before I pay heaven's steep price.
But this cost is just too much.

You can't rebuild until what's left is torn down.
That's how you get a rewarding crown.
I don't know any other way.
The only thing I can be sure of is that God has ...
... the last say ...
