I touch but I don't feel.
I pray but don't kneel.
I look but don't see.
I'm someone but not me.
I walk but I can't run.
I stare but must inevitably look away from the blinding sun.
I hurt but I do not bleed.
I reap but plant no seed.
I weep but don't cry.
I ask but am never told why.
I love but am not loved.
Trampled, pushed and shoved.
I die but I'm not dead.
I hunger and am always fed.
I have glitter but no gold.
I know the truth, or so I'm told.
Rigor mortis fingers make their moves.
As only an ancient black book proves.
Waxing with a stark lividity.
Contemplating lucidity.
I want to know what this life is for.
I knock but no one answers the door.
I win the battles but lose the war.
Always longing for ...
...something more ...
