I stare but must inevitably look away from the blinding sun. I hurt but I do not bleed. I reap but plant no seed. I weep but don't cry. I ask but am never told why. I love but am not loved. Trampled, pushed and shoved. I die but I'm not dead. I hunger and am always fed. I have glitter but no gold. I know the truth, or so I'm told. Rigor mortis fingers make their moves. As only an ancient black book proves. Waxing with a stark lividity. Contemplating lucidity. I want to know what this life is for. I knock but no one answers the door.
