InquisitionA Poem by PeteFaith, indeed, is all the reform that is needed; it is itself a reform. - ThoreauShould I clutch faith in life's changing quick sands? Answer me if true disciples tote shopping carts through Eden's streets and collect cans. Please, I'd like to know that cherubs still make music by forming rock bands. I want to know that light can survive the dark years. That love still dries up painful tears. That his comfort is ours like a blanket in a desperate age. As Hell's seemingly free concert takes center stage. Tell me that things still make sense. That my life is not a past tense. I want to know that angels don't sing with lisps. That my days are sun-kissed. In short, I need reassurance that God exists. Tell me that my knees will always bend. So that my heart can heal and mend. That it's fruitful to pray. Each and every dutiful day. Explain to me why my spirit has been rocked and shaken. And that there's a reason why I feel forsaken. Assure me that eternity is intact. Promise me this hopeful, immutable fact. School me on why the wind moans and groans. Swear to me that I am not alone. I just want to hear that loyalty is rewarded. And the lamb's book of life is still recorded. Show me that I will be okay as the stars change position. Recount how nothing's lost for my soul during this undying, big bang ... ... inquisition ... © 2019 PeteAuthor's Note
