Lonely YearsA Poem by PeteWe are for the most part more lonely when we go abroad among men than when we stay in our chambers. - ThoreauNo one cares. People ask me how I am and don't even wait for an answer. It's just something they say as they go on their way. Unable to look me straight in the eye. We breathe air but exhale desperation. Dodging raindrops and jumping puddles. Swinging from life's sturdy trees as we try to remain free. But man has cut them all down. To warm his bones and make tissues to dry his tears. Futile attempts to ease all of his fears. Whilst his spirit freezes and God sneezes. As lonely days turn into ... ... lonely years ... © 2019 PeteAuthor's Note
