Do or DieA Poem by PeteWhat lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us. - ThoreauAlone. Like a tightrope dancer. Waiting for an answer. My tears long since dry like the Ghobi. I stand on life's lustful cliff. Storm clouds gather over my head. Ushering in a most unwelcomed dread. My spit hits an ocean of oblivion. I watch intently to see where it goes. No one knows. The release quells for an instant but is quickly nullified by the potent, flagellating sea. Owning me. I scream curses into a bifurcated canyon. Even Hell's vernacular offers no reprieve. On this destiny's eve. The echo is hopeful but fleeting. Self-defeating. There is no direction or answer. They both disappear and I grow weary.
