IndelibleA Poem by PeteRather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth. - ThoreauOf all the burdens I've borne in my life. Betrayal is the heaviest by far. It stings like a wasp. Burns like a branding iron. Leaving it's mark. Saying one thing whilst doing another. Take my hand dear brother. It cuts like a machete and asphyxiates the soul. Like a serpant's lies born in a banished tree. Incarcerating truth for a life sentence behind rusty barbed wire. It can never be fully eradicated. Deceiving the heart like a damned, lying cheat. Following down every street. As far as East is from West. Atlas' shoulders pressed. Not even all the tears in the Pacific can wash away it's stink. Because it's written with ... ... indelible ink ... © 2019 PeteAuthor's Note
