The End of the Story

What if life became all of your worst fears?
What if there simply weren't enough tears?
What if all love could do was betray?
What if loneliness didn't know how to pray?
What if God left you forsaken?
What if faith was lost and mistaken?
What if, for eternity, your heart ached?
Your soul bound and staked?
What if Heaven wasn't real?
What if Hell was all you could feel?
What if fog was never lifted?
Neither the baker's flour sifted nor peace gifted?
What if dirges never stopped playing?
Branches swaying?
What if all roads went nowhere?
And angels could swear?
What if you were trapped in an insane pergatory?
What if this was ...
... the end of the story ...

I always imagine myself walking on a long and foggy road to nowhere, bearing all the hurts and pains. I love imagining myself walking that road someday.

Thank you for this poem.
