The Hurt You Kept

You know the feeling.
It leaves you reeling.
You try to swallow it but can never quite get it down.
It stole your crown.
It keeps coming up.
Tipping your cup.
It twists your guts.
No ifs or buts.
You can't breathe.
Feeling deceived.
It's like a train wreck.
An uncashable check.
A noose around your neck.
Tightening.
Frightening.
Cutting through you like greased lightning.
You can't eat or sleep.
The pain is just too deep.
You weep like a willow.
Tears watering your pillow.
Enough to fill a pond.
No magic wand.
Not even God can take it away.
It's here to stay.
That thing you just can't accept.
Because of ...
... the hurt you kept ...

Interesting and unique rhyming here. Does not identify the particular hurt, but could pertain to any deep wound. Nicely done.
