Disposable Dogma

Disposable Dogma

A Poem by Pete
"

"The savage in man is never quite eradicated." - Thoreau

"
Night, Forest, Trees, Moonlight, Winter, Flashlight

As right as rain.
As staunch as the sea.
As straightforward as snow.
As unequivocal as the equator.
In their silence,
the trees of the forest cried out
in their disapproval of mankind ...

Author's Note

Pete
"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation. From the desperate city you go into the desperate country, and have to console yourself with the bravery of minks and muskrats. A stereotyped but unconscious despair is concealed even under what are called the games and amusements of mankind. There is no play in them, for this comes after work. But it is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things.." - Thoreau

Articulate and beautiful stated and said, Pete. I agree totally with you 100%. Short, sharp, great images projected into my mind and heart. That also speaks to the soul.
