I continue trying to do what's right.
Reaching towards the light.
Like bringing a knife to a gunfight.
Soul null and void.
Alive and clinging like a Black Forest rhizoid.
My litmus alkaloid.
Standing at Heaven's door.
Huddled on earth's floor.
Crying for more.
Abrasive.
Persuasive.
Invasive.
Flora and fauna.
A real goner.
In Hell's thirsty sauna.

Passionate poison ivy.

A holy plea.
With leaves of three.
A sad sack.
Sanctified sumac.
Takeoff delayed on a transcendental tarmac.
Wings grafted with wine.
Scented of pine.
Walking a crooked line.
Another branch on the almighty's vine.
A living, breathing shoot.
Rich with biblical loot.
The point is moot.
An asthmatic inhaler.
A wayward sailor.
God's stubborn, sentient ...

am pondering your closing my friend ..

i think you hit on a very important realization as one tries for the "right" ..our human failings a very clear and present blockade ;} this dichotomy so well said in:
"Standing at Heaven's door.
Huddled on earth's floor."
the many personifications and the alliterations sweep my reading right along ... first within speed limits...then braking around the curve and then petal to the metal ... a rhythmic delight says i ...heavy thoughts ... you hooked me good
