Eternal Psalm

Eternal Psalm

A Poem by Pete
"

"What are men celebrating? They are all on a committee of arrangements, and hourly expect a speech from somebody. God is only the president of the day, and Webster is his orator." - Thoreau

"

Faith can be fickle and fleeting.
So often,
it's there when you don't need it.
Abandoning when you do.
I know who lights the sun and glows the moon.
Who ebbs and flows the tide.
Welcoming prodigals with arms open wide.
Putting the sparkle in my eye and the spring in my step.
Depositing loyal love into my heart.
Reason to my essence.
Purpose to my days.

I declare my allegiance to you.
In the darkness of my wilderness.
Praising your very name.
Psalms to you dance upon my lips.
Carrying me like sailing ships.
Your hand of goodness guides me.
Your truth acquits me.
Your love anoints me like a Holy balm.
All the days of my life.
Stretching to eternity, your very breath preserves my soul.
Thank you Lord ...
... for keeping me whole ...

"It is not when I am going to meet him, but when I am just turning away and leaving him alone, that I discover what God is. I say, God. I am not sure that that is the name. You will know what I mean." - Thoreau
