FlavorA Poem by Pete“He who distinguishes the true savor of his food can never be a glutton; he who does not cannot be otherwise.” - ThoreauSkimming stones on puddles is a crime. They said I couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time. Couldn't play with words and make them rhyme. Would never make it to the moon. Was crazy as a loon. Taking showers in thunderstorms. Against all conventions and norms. Wrote me off as being gone in the head. Left me for dead. Seriously whacked. Toting a backpack. Laptop in hand. Leading the band. In a world that does us wrong. Don't stare at the sun too long. Bite off as much as you can chew. Skedaddle and screw. Savor the flavor. Never waver. Satisfied fish don't take bait. They already know their fate. Like bats, our winged spirits are blind. Don't dismay at what is left behind. The number at the deli says you are next. Why do you wear a look that is so perplexed ... ... when you find my gum stuck beneath your desk? ...
