No Strings Attached

No Strings Attached

A Poem by Pete

Pinocchio bears a liberating lesson for us all.

He came into the world under a plastic pretense.
Wooden and wonderful.
A mischievous marionette.
Carved by a culpable craftsman.
Dancing a polka for his master's pleasure.
Laughing in his face.
What a disgrace.
Stealing his wig.
Then hopping a jig.
No room for lies.
In the presence of the wise.
Lest his nose grow long.
A wretched sense of right and wrong.
A consummate consternation in a catch-22.
Imprisoning you.

Hanging majestically from heaven's door.
Winning the battles but losing the war.
Walking on water.
Then turning it to whine.
Time can move slowly just before dawn.
Tired of being someone else's pawn.
Hear my deep prayer.
Answer my plea.
Powerful master of life.
I yearn to be real.
Let's make a deal.
I'll tell the truth.
Of my rogue youth.
In your puppet booth.
I want to fly with kings.
Give me wings.
Grant me these things.
Oh please, remove my ...
... strings ...

Wow! A powerful message of liberation and freedom from bondage and falsehoods. We are created and then is placed on us so many strings to play a great cosmic game. I think on those things. Great job , Pete.
