Gone Baby Gone

He had a curious allure.
Of that, you could be quite sure.
Making an impression you would not soon forget.
Leaving us with a deep sense of lasting regret.
Complete with the flair of Giorgio Armani.
Standing on legs that were tawdry and scrawny.
His choice of footwear would make prophets proud.
A sense of style that was bold and quite loud.
The total package, with a unique sense of style.
We could only tolerate him for a terse while.
He had traveled extensively around the globe.
No longer concealed by a long, secretive robe.
We didn't listen to anything he said.
We could just tell that he was ...
... gone in the head ...

This is what people would be saying about me, if I were to go out in the vast informed public, which I rarely do! No, I stick around the boondocks where people don't care about fashion or looks or grooming. Even tho you did a good job of picking scornful words to describe this goofy picture, I personally feel the way your words are conveyed, when I see so-called stylish habits such as long fake fingernails or ridiculous teeter-tottering in spiky heels, or overly-shaved grooming, or orange pancake make-up that so many can't leave the house without. I think there's something gone in the heads of people who follow trends *smile* Fondly, Margie

I like how you're always quoting Thoreau...just a side note. This poem is interesting in our perception of things. How once they were all the rage and norm and now looked on as oddities and wrong. and I like the shape of the poem. Full circle. :)

Interesting piece. It certainly does not need the pic to convey the message, but it certainly describes the pic. One could assume both scorn for the subject and/or scorn for the society that judges him.

Lol, now I know you've got a sense of humor! How funny! I 've often wondered why men wear socks with sandals. It has puzzled me for the longest time.
