C'est la Vie

C'est la Vie

A Poem by Pete
"

"Make the most of your regrets; never smother your sorrow, but tend and cherish it till it comes to have a separate and integral interest. To regret deeply is to live afresh." - Thoreau

Towers of power.
Steady by the hour.
Don't cower or wobble lest topple.
Roaring, rapscallion roller-coaster amidst rhapsody.
Take a deep breath.
Tantalizing, theatrical tightrope.
Don't look down.
Tenacious, transfixing trapeze.
Elusive and sweaty with tempestuous trauma.
Hold on tight.
Fantastical fire-eating.
Drink plenty of faith.
Jeweled juggling.
Jittery and jaunty.
Aiming for the jugular.
Catch everything that comes your way.
Dancing a loutish, lightsome limbo.
Thrilling and tempting.
How low can you go?

Life wears us down as the days pass by.
Scouring like sandpaper on the soul.
Lying on our deathbeds.
Curled up for a curtain call.
Frolicking faineant and fetal.
A brazen balancing act of berserk, barbarous bravado.
Written in braille.
Wondering what awaits us on the other side.
Hucksters hawk counterfeit  tickets.
Step inside the big-top.
Take a bow.
Reach up to the sky.
Plunge into the net.
Come along with me ...
... c'est la vie ...

there is joy in life... live it to the fullest coz there is no room for regrets too easy to say but hard to do but then that is what is challenging in this life is how to make it worth everything you have in this world... very philosophical but then that is what reality is.. like the use of words onomatopoeia and alliteration..

I must confess I had to look up fainient. Did not find an adequate definition that fit. However, the rest of the poem takes the reader on an expansive and amazing journey, the sort of awe that I felt when I saw cirque. We may not all be acrobats and performers, but we certainly need to negotiate many obstacles in this life.

ok yes now I understand. thanks.
All thru V1 I was enjoying the way your words increasingly embellished the image in my mind, first planted by your photos. But then it was a little jarring, how your poem went in a different direction at the start of V2. All thru reading V2, I was off balance & unsure about the way this storyline flows. But other than that minor distraction, your abundant wordplay is as delightfully exuberant as always. I love the way you choose words everyone forgets to use, planting more & more in the forefront of my mind, encouraging more unusual word choices in my own writing (which I appreciate) *smile* Fondly, Margie
