Who will guard it but us? Who will watch the watchers? Where does it all end? “Be careful what you wish for, lest it come true.”

Author's Note

Re-Pete
“We think that if rail-fences are pulled down, and stone-walls piled up on our farms, bounds are henceforth set to our lives and our fates decided. If you are chosen town-clerk, forsooth, you cannot go to Tierra del Fuego this summer: but you may go to the land of infernal fire nevertheless. The universe is wider than our views of it.” - Thoreau

“Brick..by..brick”-yes, so sad...mankind is entombing itself brick by brick, word by word, intolerance by intolerance. Excellent, powerful statement poem in stark, minimalist style - each word separated by line, by indictment. Truth spoken. Great Thoreau reference. Hope the sun will shine still...Kudos!

Knowing your penchant for effusively-crafted writing, I am particularly admiring your restraint here, as it makes this statement all the more powerful. It's too ridiculous to even spell out with the usual explanations. Just a few stark observations are all that's needed to get your point across! *sheesh!* Fondly, Margie

So much better to use bricks in building bridges. Why do some fear anyone who isn't part of their tribe? I wish I knew. More than that, I wish there was a cure for it. Perhaps this poem will help.

the universe is wider than our views of it.. yes it is true to what thoreau said because we are sometimes limited by what is sensory to us, we cannot entertain other perspectives that is the reason why sometimes we feel we are imprisoned for we feel we know nothing.
