You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet

You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet

A Poem by Pete
"

A Jewish man named Saul, persecutor of Christians, sees the light.

"

Knocked to the ground on the dusty road to Damascus.
Called out on the carpet.
Blinded by hate and lies.
Oblivious to truth.
Challenged by the very man he persecuted.
An eye for an eye.
A case of spontaneous human combustion.
A flash bomb of faithlessness.
Extinguished with love in the water of Lourdes.
Anointed with the salve of salvation after three days.
Finally seeing the light.
The hard way.

No longer afraid to walk through the valley of the shadow.
Champion of the Kabbalah and Canon Law.
Teacher of New Testament.
Casting out demons with hands of healing.
Paving the way for the lame to walk.
Harbinger to heathens.
Apostle to agnostics for the ages.
Jailed without justice.
Prayed and sang hymns in prison 'til the walls shook in a violent earthquake, doors flew open and chains came loose.
Laid the foundation for a church with his blood, sweat and tears.
Ultimately losing his head for the cause.
They more they hated, the more he loved.
They could own his flesh but never buy his soul.
This is the story of a man named Saul ...
... becoming Saint Paul ...

Pete, your dedication and heart is felt in every word. This flows beautifully from the start, an adventurous in the first lines, until it becomes clear where we are going and then ends as dedicated as it began. Profound write Thank You

dear Pete... the story of Paul is more meaningful to me as the years go by.
I like your poem as it brings courage to my soul to give hope to understand the good virtues of different beliefs. The one thing we have in common is love, then understanding different ways to approach love. truly, Pat

Altho I'm only tangentially familiar with this Bible story, I love the way you spelled it out with many interesting & imaginative details, to help flesh out this story in a more down-to-earth way. Your writing style suggests a slow transformation from top to bottom (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Interesting interpretation of the gospel account! The New Testament record of the conversion of the apostle Paul is a tremendously important element of Christian history. It has a significant apologetic thrust, and is likewise wonderfully illustrative of the crucial elements of the Lord’s plan for human redemption.
Good strong write ... :-)
