Earnest Endeavor

Earnest Endeavor

A Poem by Pete

I long to reach that pinnacle of existence where I am content no matter the circumstance.
Perpetually able to harvest the good in myself, see the like in others and be content.
With little fluctuation.
Consistent in calamity.
Happiness unconditional.
Of one mind and will.
Not subject to the manufacture of folly by the fleeting spirits of men.
Neither sacrilegious slave to the flesh nor prisoner of partisanship.
A banner of principle.
Unfurled by the almighty creator.

An inextinguishable candle.
Pressured by fleeting breezes but burning brightly for eternity.
Inextricably linked solely to the resilient rationality of nature.
A freight car in the train of truth.
A marker of what is just.
A buoy of reason and understanding in increasingly trying times.
Firm in faith and compassionate.
Foaming with the froth of a new dawn.
Washing ever gently like a neap tide.
Able to change "what if" to "what is".
Purposed with a noble navigation and an ...
... earnest endeavor ...
