Lapidation

Lapidation

A Poem by Pete

Clearer than the Rembrandt.

Life casts its stones upon me.
Each one a sin of man.
Those things that weigh upon hearts.
The hate and anger of generations.
Too much to bear.
Consuming like a cancer.
Poisoning.
Attacking peace, hope and love.

In my anguish.
Down upon on my knees.
Prostrate in protecting forgiveness.
No longer fighting to stay,
but looking forward to go.
What are we even fighting for?
To be released from the bondage of humanity.
I say my prayers.

Putting feet to faith.
I cry out to you.
Apply your salve to my soul.
Ointment for obedience and oblation.
Heal me.
Help me.
Protect me.
Raise me.
Absolve me.
Release me from the shackles of this hell.
Liberate me.
In exchange,
I offer tears and blood  ...
