Skyscrapers Never Touch the SkyA Poem by PeteReaching up for heaven. Monuments of 9/11. Rancid rain falls to the ground. Returning from whence it came to plummet again elsewhere. Laughing on the outside whilst crying on the inside. Elevators that never reach the top. Catatonic cats stalking. Shrouded in colorful, entertaining mysteries of the jungle. The river runs but is caught by the sea where 'tis emptied. Dancing 'neath the e'er-lowering, lamenting limbo stick. Squeaking by like machiavellian mice. Constantly closing in as a vicious vice. Running out of pigment that colors. Painted into a corner with no way out. Lollipops on sassy sticks. Lives churning like abominable ants. The folly of man revealed. Generations crying out for antidote. Dark day of reckoning comes like a kinetic kleptomaniac. Things aren't always as they appear. Highways with no exits. Twisted facades in funhouse mirrors. Artificial sweeteners. Cloaked in devious deception. Even scales don't tell fibs. Triple-knots coming undone. Midgets in palsied, parabolic, platform shoes. Adorned with turbans and riding atop the backs of captive camels. Wolves in sheep's clothing. Twirling a ballistic ballet. Guided by misplaced anger. Glistening glass that goads. Stretching sarcastically. Always returning to the foundations that support. You cannot live a lie, always wondering why ... ... skyscrapers never touch the sky ...
