Springtime

Springtime

A Poem by Pete

Image result for flowers poking up through snow

The frigid, frozen fingers of winter reluctantly released their grip.
Final remnants of snow sparkled like precious diamond crystals in the spirit of renewal.
Daffodils and crocuses peered out from their persnickety pagodas in a proper game of peekaboo.
Baby's breath was stirring in the womb.
The grass changed coats from a barren brown to an unapologetic, viridescent hue.
Earthworms claimed new acreage in bold, brazen, business ventures.
Birds laughed and rejoiced at their newfound glory.
The sea exchanged its tears for more playful pursuits as it readied for a foaming frolic.
Tree buds exploded like popcorn in a movie theater as the drama unfolded.
The sun smiled sarcastically as it turned its back on the departing season,
giving it the cold shoulder.
The maker sat back and proclaimed as angels promulgated ...
... Springtime ...

Somehow I feel like this isn't about welcoming spring but it is about saying goodbye to winter and being sad about it. I love having spring come and winter being over.
"The grass changed coats from a barren brown to an unapologetic green."--here, your description of the color green is what makes me feel this way along with your beginning about the final remains of winter.
I like the use of metaphor but I feel like this change is not welcomed--it is sad here because of these descriptions. "Smiled sarcastically"--it is like a smirk.
Nice picture at the top with vivid colors.

If I said 'Marie will never be gone while someone pens the Seasons as you have Pete' - I hope you'd understand that is the highest praise I could give.
I love the alliteration and the imagery.

AW! This made me smile so wide I thought me face would split in two! How absolutely lovely; the diction alone was so absolutely playful I thought it might jump of the screen and start dancing. Haha how apt a description to such a joyous season!
