Today I Saw an AngelA Poem by Pete"Grandfather and Grandson" by (Nikolaos Gyzis) Today I saw an angel. Don't ask me how I knew. I just knew. He was wearing white sneakers, leaning on a cane and shuffling his feet when he walked. Smiling from the corners of his mouth as he spoke. His words and mannerisms were kind, gentle and serene. Not an evil bone in his body. We exchanged pleasantries, mostly about the weather. It couldn't have been an accident. When we looked at each other, we saw only each others soul. When we spoke, we spoke only to each others soul. We addressed each other as 'Buddy'. There was only goodness and love, a mutual understanding, a spiritual connection not of this world. Nothing else needed to be said. There was an almost unnatural aura of peace about him. I could feel it deep down in places we don't talk about. I saw him all over the city, everywhere I went. Kept running into him. Each time we met, it was the same. We smiled and talked about the weather. It was all that mattered. Never any shame. Sharing a smile. Each one worth about a thousand words. Talking about the weather. We were together. Looking out for each other. Nothing else mattered. That is the way it's supposed to be. I smiled a thousand words because ... ... today I saw an angel ... © 2017 PeteFeatured Review
