Bird of HopeA Poem by PeteToday I saw a lost soul. It came in the darkness. Misguided by fateful fluttering. Meekly and humbly blown by the breeze. It was seeking pieces of paradise. Tidbits of truth. Morsels of meaning. Bread of life. It pecked at the cold, hard, barren ground. Finding a crumb to sustain itself where there was none. It chirped like a cherished cherub. A chant of creation. Singing a hymn of harmony. It preened itself with the preaching of peace. Hopping about in happiness. It was adorned with feathers of faith. The plumage of a pilgrimage. Wearing a crest of contemplation. Flying with wings of willingness. Soaring in salvation. In the clouds. To the moon and sun. Beyond the rainbow and stars. Sailing as a sacrament. It left in the light. Quickly and boldly carried by the wind. A red robin of redemption. A bird of hope ...
