Faith

Faith

A Poem by Pete
"

Wavering faith, despair, questioning.

"

Is my life a blessing or is it a curse?
Perhaps I belong in the back of a hearse.
Nature is truth and  man is a lie.
I tried to reach up and touch the sky.

I cried my tears 'til there were no more.
I stared at the ocean and walked by it's shore.
I tried my best but it wasn't enough.
In the end, life's the one of who was tough.

I pleaded with God but he turned a deaf ear.
The demons took over and crushed me with fear.
The greatest things in life cannot be taken from you.
Your beliefs and your word must always stand true.

My faith was strong like steel; in God I did trust.
But the hurt was too much and tears turned it to rust.
I can't walk on water and I can't conquer sin.
His boat's always there; I just need to climb back in . . .

Your rhyme schemes are so flawless its so awesome haha.
I loved this poem, so much meaning, its so deep and its a soul searching piece.
It is hard with what happens in life sometimes to still have such faith and belief in god that is true.
Although even when you do start to loose faith its true god is always there for you, and you can come back to him whenever you want.

"Nature is truth and man is a lie?" This line in the first stanza definitely gave me something to think about. It is a question, I believe, that cannot be answered in a black and white manner.
The second stanza gave me a feeling of defeat . . . as if the obstacles of life are too great to surmount.

I'm having trouble with the last two lines though. The speaker says he cannot walk on water and he cannot conquer sin - meaning he is not strong enough to fight the darker forces of life, yet at the end when he says that God's boat is always there, then all he needs to do is climb back in. So . . . he CAN overcome his sins. Or is "climbing back in" not a reference to overcoming sins? That is simply how I understood it.

Had a nice read . . . and the picture added.

Yea....to climb back in. I think we forget that just because the faith is there that we can always grasp it, always hang on, "stay in the boat". In truth, the storms of life toss us about like corks and we need to remember to keep breathing while we try to make our way back to that boat. Just because I know Him doesn't mean I know how to stay connected 24/7. Thanks Pete for these powerful images!

Tough one, faith. When you need it, it aint there.
When you don't. Maybe it is.

Pete,
Feeling that God is deaf to our tears, that our life is a curse and not easy. Amazing because in all of the complexities our stability is or lack of does not really define who we are. Jesus came to give His perfection for our lack. Then we are truly defined! Blessings as you continue to share wonderful insights with the rest of us...................Kathy

This was so pretty!! And inspiring, too. The metaphors are beautiful, and I love both the rhythm and upbeat imagery in the last two lines. I look forward to more!
