Another Lovely DayA Poem by PeteMountains wake, yawn and stretch to the sky. The sea slaps the shore as the clouds roll by. The sun burns silently, hurling golden arrows down. The earth breathes them in, as summer grass turns brown. A church bell rings and incense smokes the pew. The maker orchestrates masterfully, bestowing love to me and you. Lightning flashes brightly and thunder shakes the ground. It's just another day as the globe spins around. Tears rain down, washing away the pain. The wind dries them up, trying to explain. The desert sweats the world as destiny draws near. Canyons open wide and swallow all the fear. The forest exhales, dispersing colorful leaves. Bees labor for nectar, as they roll up their sleeves. Snow licks the ground and sticks for a while. It whitens the landscape like a dentist does a smile. A man drives a car, as traffic forms a metal snake. A child blows out candles perched upon a birthday cake. One person sings, another wants to dance. Lovers join together, willing to take a chance. As the night rolls in, the day begins to weep. Crickets lull the masses to a peaceful trance of sleep. The moon anchors the darkness and shows its glowing face. A star shoots by and vanishes without a trace. Tomorrow will return, there is no other way. Be thankful for the gift of another lovely day ... © 2016 PeteFeatured Review
