Another Lovely Day

Another Lovely Day

A Poem by Pete

Mountains wake, yawn and stretch to the sky.

The sea slaps the shore as the clouds roll by.

The sun burns silently, hurling golden arrows down.

The earth breathes them in, as summer grass turns brown.

A church bell rings and incense smokes the pew.

The maker orchestrates masterfully, bestowing love to me and you.

Lightning flashes brightly and thunder shakes the ground.

It's just another day as the globe spins around.

Tears rain down, washing away the pain.

The wind dries them up, trying to explain.

The desert sweats the world as destiny draws near.

Canyons open wide and swallow all the fear.

The forest exhales, dispersing colorful leaves.

Bees labor for nectar, as they roll up their sleeves.

Snow licks the ground and sticks for a while.

It whitens the landscape like a dentist does a smile.

A man drives a car, as traffic forms a metal snake.

A child blows out candles perched upon a birthday cake.

One person sings, another wants to dance.

Lovers join together, willing to take a chance.

As the night rolls in, the day begins to weep.

Crickets lull the masses to a peaceful trance of sleep.

The moon anchors the darkness and shows its glowing face.

A star shoots by and vanishes without a trace.

Tomorrow will return, there is no other way.

Be thankful for the gift of another lovely day ...

Pete,
"Another Lovely Day" Intricate beauty seen withing each new day. Layers of meaning we connect with our lives and the lives of others. So much musing, thinking and brainstorming is inspired when in the presence of nature. Your poem really spoke of our need for it's balancing ways.................Blessings and thankyou for writing! I love the rhythm and rhyme here. Beautiful imagery and similes. The message of the last line as well, so true. God's creation is beautiful and complex and we should be thankful for the life we have that let's us enjoy it.

You are kind. Thanks for stopping by & peaking into my world for a bit.
I love nature, your beautiful descriptions soothing and giving us a moment to reflect on "being." Around us, people carry on their daily life, flowing, taking different paths. Plus, giving thanks for another lovely day with every word resonating to the end.

Wow this was awesome... It's like people watching or world watching.. sitting back and taking in the views around us.. watching, sitting, breathing... peace. Kind of what I am doing right now as I sit in McD listening to IHOPKansas Prayer room with ear buds in, Reading Reviews, Checking FB now and then, Watching People, Offering smiles & pointing people in the direction of the bathroom when they walk in & do that turn, turn, turn, where is the bathroom look? ...it's Peace.
