Some People

Some People

A Poem by Re-Pete

Some people write checks.
I write feelings.
Some people care about themselves.
I care about others.
Some people see apathetic lies.
I see brutal truth.
Some people want wealth.
I want love.
Some people count money.
I count blessings.
Some people want more.
I want less.

Some people watch T.V.
I watch the miracle of nature.
Some people don't care.
I care too much.
Some people lost their jobs.
I lost my temper.
Some people feel the money in their pockets.
I feel compassion for others.
Some people count the square footage of their abodes.
I count the stars in the sky.
Some people wonder who will become the next President.
I wonder where I will go when I die.

Some people worry about what they will eat and wear.
I worry about my sins.
Some people watch the clock.
I watch the sunrise and sunset.
Some people drive a car.
I drive life into a dark room with a spotlight and interrogate it.
Some people fight to get in.
I fight to get out.
Some people want to be grown up.
I want to be a child.
Some people are afraid of the dark.
I'm afraid of what I see in the light.

Some people are proud of who they are.
I'm ashamed of who I was.
Some people are losing their innocence.
 I'm trying to find mine.
Some people go indoors or hoist an umbrella to block the rain.
I lift my hands to the sky, drink it in and jump in the puddles.
Some people want a signature.
My word and handshake are good enough.
There's nothing wrong with the world, it's the people in it . . .

I don't think you understand how relatable this is... Then again, you probably do because you were able to conceive this poem. Most people concern themselves with the physical world while others search within themselves, their souls. Everyday, I contemplate on the evil in me and fight to be free from the burdening sins and mistakes. Many people must face this battle and I'm glad you expressed it honestly. Great job!

'Some People'
Pete,
This was surly worth reading. It is so good to stop and ponder how we are thinking, living. Your writing speaks to this need. Sin covers a lot. We all understand whether we want to or not. Imperfect but we were made to be loved and to love the Lord Jesus. I know where my strength comes from.
Thanks for this honest portrayal. Super refreshing.

Another worthy philosophical write penned to your page via that avenue of your heart ... As for your and I, our spiritual alignments are likely very different, but our thinking, our desires of good for all mankind, are spot on the same page ... Though, I am not a Globalist, but a Nationalist, I am a zealously fervent fan of the Human Race, believing that there is only one race of mankind upon this Earth, regardless of differences in languages, cultures, nationalities, religions, and complexions--as all the diversity represents one Humanity: The Human Race ... as for your thoughts on, "There's nothing wrong with the world, it's the people in it." ... I would not disagree, yet, I would go a bit further and say that what is wrong with the people in the world that makes them what's wrong is their thinking, which has been instilled by religions, governments, various forms of the Media, and ultimately by those Powers Behind The Throne of all established governments that we do not see, are never intended to see, no not you and me ... And so, the world is a mess and could use a bit of finesse in ironing out the wrinkles that cause life ending crinkles in conflict after conflict, and war after war--without an end in sight, it seems ...

Another excellent piece of poetry ...

The picture reminded me of Yes song.Owners of a lonely heart, a great song. Funny a lot of people worry how they are perceived, and others like yourself appreciate the simple things nature has to offer, a feeling of freedom from the shackles of your inside world. Abuse is not nice!

You are too kind. Thanks so much for taking a glimpse into my world.
Like the theme and ideas. Especially liked the lines I drive life into a room and interrogate it. Society does have screwed up priorities. Well done.

Thanks so much. I appreciate it. Best regards.
How very nicely put, Paul. It made me smile :) It makes me wonder though, these things that people do, are those the things they really want? Or are they just buying into what has been sold to them? I think honestly, if given a choice, a lot of people would gladly leave all the nonsense behind and lead an authentic life. If following dreams and pursuing passions paid the bills, oh what a different world we would have! Anyway, it's a thought I've had more than once. I love what you wrote

This poem is a beautiful expression of how we set priorities, or allow them to be set for us. I love the glimpses you give of yourself..hints of a painful past that tweak interest but reveal very little. I love this kind of poem...it touches something inside that recognizes the spirit that felt and wrote those words.

I couldn't agree more! All you hear about these days are people hurting each other in the name of one pointless thing after another. We have so much beauty and potential around us, and all humanity can focus on is itself. This was beautiful, well-spoken and obviously thought deeply about. You should be very proud of this work, for it is wonderful. Thank you for sharing it!

Some people have strong message. Very brave piece to see who I am and what others are. There is always reason behind why people act badly. But reason why people are good. Cause they experience with love. See this world at light of truth and still be fulkl of love. I think that s great. So gratulation to stay at love and for well write of this poem.
