As the dust settles

As the dust settles

A Poem by owen

As the dust settles
You'll regret a little
Or a lot
You'll not
Be inside my head again
At least the way you were a lot

Walk by me
Like you never met me
But, I see the painful shame
In your eyes

Back to being a loner
Because your girlfriend left you
Story of a desperate telephoner
With no more best friend to come to

We both know
French Exit Outtakes
And California Street's afterglow
Are slowly fading memories, they don't stay in place

So while you bathe in regret
And wallow in pain
Remember, I'm not a rainbow
Or an ever-forgiving antistain.
