Algarvian AprilA Poem by owenA poem about the Algarve, a picturesque region in the south of Portugal, where part of my family hails from.
There is a place
Sometimes bliss But not in the summer When it's overrun by Brits The sun-baked land of my ancestors' spirits I've forgotten sun cream So again I blend With the cliffs I could be here forever Under the pine's loving palm and the palms could be mine Maybe it's my ancestors calling "Come home! Come home! You've been missed." The life I'm fit for is an Algarvian bliss Your caves, your coasts stretch for miles long But before I know it I'm once again gone
