So Why?

So Why?

A Poem by Phoebe Taylor
"

A piece about those demons that live inside us all.

"
We all have to fight our own demons, so why fight each other?
We will never fully understand what someone is going through, no matter how well you think you may know them.
So why?
Why do we take the risk?
The risk of pushing them off the edge.
You may be unaware that we are the cause.
We fuel those demons that hide inside of us.
We’ve become so good at torturing those we care so deeply about. Fueling their demons rage, each and every day stoking that fire.
So why?
Why do we do it?
What could possibly feel good about amplifying suffering?
And you know the saddest part... I think we’re actually aware. We know we’re part of the problem, we’re a character in their story, we contribute to their pain, and yet we continue to do exactly that.
We add to their pain.
The deliberate mind games we dabble in, to test them, as we uncover their scars...
Still raw, still fresh, vulnerable.
Seeking out their each and every weakness, and acting on them accordingly.
Torture.
And all for what? Pleasure?
Do we enjoy to watch others suffer?
Or is it a disgraceful excuse to not acknowledge and feel our own pain. Are we too scared to face our own demons head on?
Or are we just sick human beings.
It is simply not okay.
The smallest action or word could just be enough to ice the cake and reach that tipping point. Enough to cause those demons to conquer that soul, and destroy it.
We don’t know how deep those demons have their claws sunk in... So why risk testing that?
Something has to change.
We have to change.
We are all battling demons, which no one else knows anything about.
