My Friend Gave Me a Ride

My Friend Gave Me a Ride

A Poem by Cameron Koontz
"

Just wrote this poem. Overall very simple.

"
My friend gave me a ride
He pulled up in his van
Not much of a chick magnet
But,you do with what you can

He turned on some music
We sat and heard a song
About a man named Mr. Brightside
And we got the lyrics wrong

Stopped by a McDonalds
Went in and got some fries
We talked about being kids
Realized how much time flies

He talked about his girlfriend
Who's off gone in Wyoming
He doesn't know where she is
And there's no real way of knowing

I told him about that one girl
The one I think about
She's got me in her spell
With no way of getting out

We want to start a band
But not sure what to do
He can kind of play guitar
And Dave could pitch in too

I pitch in for some gas
And a few other things
And with smoke in the air
We see what the night brings

One long, simple night
With all the time to bide
All worth it because
My friend gave me a ride
