Prologue

The time has finally arrived, and the preparations must be made. I have sent my most trusted guardian and a shapeshifter to retrieve my daughter and bring her back to me. The darkness has gained too much control in these past years, and I fear that if I allow it to continue then, my kingdom will fall.

Forgive me my new found friends and let me introduce myself and start from the beginning. My name is Arwen, and I am High Queen of the Fae Kingdom of Crijan. During my hundreds of years of existence, I have had to watch the light of my kingdom slowly fall into darkness spread by the evil Queen Sapphire.

Crijan has lived in peace in harmony for centuries and has been looked after by my family for generations. The role of high Queen or King has fallen to the first born child. This law was made nearly six thousand years ago when twins were born under a full moon. The first born became high queen while the second was given helping reign over the southern territories of Crijan. Three hundred years ago my twin sister and I were born and by just a few minutes of a difference, I became the future high queen. Years passed by, and we both worked hard on our studies of the Fae folk and talents. Years of learning the region and maps of our kingdom. However, none of it was enough for her.

I blame myself for the falling of Crijan because I was blind to the darkness that took hold of my sister and my love for her blinded me to the truth. As my birthright, I elected her to be queen over Emberasos and gave her the opening she needed to weave her darkness into the southern territory. I sent my only child Sophia to another world to live a life way from this darkness until she was old enough to come into her powers and save us all. It won’t be long until Sapphire realizes that my top warriors are gone and goes looking for them. I must go now as I said preparations must be made for the awaited arrival of my child and her journey begins to fight the darkness so that it doesn’t destroy all of my kingdoms.
