Too Late

Too Late

A Poem by Healed but Scarred
"

To the man that broke my heart

"
She will wait for you.
Her broken heart, shattered in pieces,
Gathered in the palms of her hands.
Tears falling out of her red eyes,
Streaming down her swollen face.
She won't call after you. She has faith you will return.
She won't cry out to you. She hopes you hear her stifled cries.

But you will walk away.
Not even give her a backward glance.
You will walk away, without an apology, or remorse.
You will move on with life
And forget her.

However, she won't stand there long.
Soon, her eyes will dry, her cries will vanish.
And she will stuff the broken pieces of her heart,
Back inside of her.
She will turn away
From the horizon that you walked away to.
She will learn to smile and laugh again.
She will learn to move forward with life.
And even though sometimes she will still cry.
Even though she will still remember you,
She will learn to forget.

And if you return to her then,
It will be too late.
She is fine now.
And her heart no longer needs you.
She no longer need you to make her smile and laugh.
She no longer needs you for her dreams and goals.
She has removed you from her life.
And if you return then...
It will be too late.

And it's too late to feel any regrets. A saddening piece. Well written.

I hope she be strong enough as she has described her emotions here. I wish she sticks to her word. A beautiful write. Loved it.
