When you fight something, it only stays with you longer.
“Domino? Can you hear me?”-a cold hand was pressed against my forehead and a soft beeping noise was in the background-“can you hear me?” It wasn’t Ashlynne, or Shane; I didn’t know the voice that was talking to me. I still couldn’t see anything, and then suddenly the voices began to quiet and I couldn’t hear the beeping anymore. This time I had a dream. The dream was simple. It was just a replay of the car spinning and flipping out of control, and the sharp pain in my side. Except this time it wasn’t raining, it was bright and sunny outside, and I was just a few feet away from a sign reading “Los Angeles 2 miles”. I was also alone, Shane and Ashlynne were outside the car, holding hands and walking in the direction of L.A. I tried to scream after them, but just like when I tried to move a sharp pain stabbed at me. I could bear the pain though, so I tried to yell after them once more, but nothing came out. Not one sound. They just kept walking, holding hands, as if I never existed; then the voice came again. “Domino? Can you hear me?”-The beeping sound came back, I still couldn’t understand who it was talking to me though-“Domino?” My eyes opened, and the room around me was white, there was a person standing over me, and at first all they were was a smudge, but then my vision began to clear. It was a woman smiling, she was happy that I woke up. “Ashlynne? Ashlynne?”-I began to panic at her absence, but the cold hand just pushed me down again-“what? Where am I? Ashlynne? Ashlynne?”. “It’s okay, she’s right over there with your father.” And after that everything she said began to drift. What was that she said? The beeping in the background began to race along with my pulse. My father? Impossible. It can’t be. “Hello Domino.” I looked up at the raspy voice, it sounded like they were trying to hold back a laugh. Tears started to race down my cheeks, when I saw who was there. Sitting with their arm wrapped over Ashlynne, with a smile on his face. There he was. My Dad. © 2009 pshhkim |
