coffeeA Poem by rt farrisjust noticing the little things in our lives
i marvel as my eyes
wander over the buzzing patrons and the working ones still and silent in their spaces staring into their computers i marvel while my feet shift restlessly as i wait in line between the bearded professor and the pudgy cop discussing pastries and prices i marvel as my smile is easily returned by the bright face of the server taking my order and marvel even more as i pay a king's ransom for my nattily named caramel macchiato then still amazed and marveling i join the crowd on the corner of the counter and with them wait cheerfully for my divine drink's name to be called and then at last i clutch it my steaming cup in a sweaty palm and head for the exit nodding at the others still waiting as i leave i lower my shades to shield my eyes from july's stifling sun and sip as i stroll and glance back and wonder but mostly i marvel at the miracle of marketing that can take a commodity and create a caffeine addict's paradise © 2011 rt farrisReviews
