Aquatic Rose & Moonlit Lotus

Aquatic Rose & Moonlit Lotus

A Poem by Prophet In The Making
"

The namesake of a poetry collection I curated back in 2017, which I want to get published one day. Written on the heels of a torrential downpour and in a season of naive love.

"

As I walk amongst the warm spring air,

and the surrounding silence of night,

the sky begins to slowly weep.

Her tears come down in the form of

droplets that pitter patter on the pavement,

only to be deflected and absorbed by

the lush greenery as nourishment.

Infused in her steady tear drops

are the passion and pain

of a hard working Mother,

Nature’s best gift to the world

and to us. Sustaining life by

way of casting away all her stresses

and pressures until like a balloon,

She pops.

Unleashing a torrential downpour

of emotions that do nothing but deflect

and runoff of our hard hearts.

Only to cascade down a drain,

forever running in an endless cycle

that on the outside seems effortless,

but on the inside is taxing.

First hand, I got to witness and understand

the trials and tribulations of the sky

as she laid every single emotion she felt

upon my head in the form of raindrops.

And as I walked down the winding brick road,

I was passed by floating petals of a scarlet rose

and wind blown petals of a lotus touched by the moon.

Only to come home drenched in

blissful passion and sorrowful pain,

but with a rejuvenated spirit and

an awakening of my natural desire

to be at peace.
