The New Economy of PoetryA Poem by Prolific In VerseThere is much to gain In replacing sensation with overtures Of cleaning words put inside your mouth It’s not fiction, it’s autobiography It’s poetry standing on her head! In easy paced syntax, I’ll retrieve Lost spiritual heritage, ancient belonging Buried in the amazing stretches Of several levels at a time The pure experiencing of loving life There is much to gain In slowing down and stopping seeking The multiple forms of our emergent Necessities of our inner life It’s not science, it’s mystical process A summary of all we have ever been To quietly hum about the virtue of laziness While others boast the merits of their successes Success is redefined in plains of dream So we utter the impossible, the last literature Of our gentle voice of everyday life There is much to gain in hoping for nothing The surrealist jab of last surrender It’s not introversion, it’s just sweet revelation That requires a lot of time to digest In slow long silence and paragraphs That spill dryness and weights in verse Uplifted with a heart-broken open I live in the poetry of the abrupt Oneness My handful of close-quartered sweetness Speaking in the open of fleeting embraces That weave momentary victory in secret rooms Where the brightest of earth-stuff resides A rhetoric of psychic velvet in catastrophe The touch of mind-melds and might-it-all-end Empathy, it’s not the span of madness It’s the treatise of the soul’s promises The unkempt language of our subjective hinges A reworking of the text of our root creativity. © 2013 Prolific In Verse |
